Grat and i don't think it's petty at all to talk about the lack of a good bye party. And what stephen seleta said is completely correct. I mean, this is why these contracts exist, because it enables treating faculty members as being disposable. You know that somebody need be treated in this way so callously... Students really see how precariety is also in their future.
