Birth Control in the Medieval Period
In the medieval period, women were expected to be a wife and mother. So we know that this is a particularly feminized time of life. Often women are looked after by midwives, not physicians. Midwives have all this lived experience in terms of delivering babies. And so too is surviving childbirth if you're a woman. If you can survive childbirth, you might live into your 80s quite easily. We also see some really interesting charms and things that are used in childbirth.
