St. Louis lost out to Chicago for 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, but later won bid to host Louisiana Purchase Exposition or the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. The fair was intended by its planners to offer what they frame as a "encyclopedic representation of what's important in the world" Some of this incredibly detailed elements are actively working to reproduces some of these narratives of conquest and empire,. But there are all these slippages that almost seem too good to be true for contemporary historian right here?
