Iden nudel lived in israel for 16 years, criticising the government's handling of soviet immigrants. Nudel never held down a steady job and was never really fluent in hebrew. She suffered for 16 years to get here, and once she was here, she seemed mostly disappointed. Still, i'm not sure there's anything more israeli than being heartsick about israel and critical. It is our oldest tradition. Read diaries from the 18ies and any time after that, you'll see complaint after complaint, outrage after disappointment.
