I was really struck and somewhat appalled by Churchill and Matt Batton's willingness to expend lives. I think there was a tremendous arrogance and heedlessness of real risk on manbattons part. If Britain hadn't been mounting this sort of targeted, ambitious, not fooling around raid at this point in the war, what would it have been doing?
