The Immigration Enforcement Regime Is a Statement of Our Value

The emigration enforcement system is a vast, sprawling bureaucracy that has grown beyond all reason and recognition. The first step is to dramatically reduce funding for imigration enforcement. A second step is to reorient the system away from focusing on deporting people into finding means for people to stay. In many forms of law we have intermediate sanctions. Its not you j walk and you get the death penalty. An imigration violation can result in deportation. There are no intermediate sanctions at all.
