The Gospels, the Kingdom of God Is at Hand

The book of revelation is full of strange visions and metaphors. But if it's approached within a common kind of redemptive narrative from the first century, then you can approach the weirdness of it in such a way that it becomes normalized. In our next episode, we want to spend some time looking at the main jewish apocalyptic themes found throughout the book of revelation. We'll talk about themes like the kingdom and martyrdom and the day of the lord and the messianic banquet. Once again, jewish apocalyptic thought is what squarely frames the book of Revelation.
