The History of the Filibuster
In the 19 fifties, there was about one fillobuster a year. At some point in the 19 nineties, it started to accelerate. And that then increased further still. I in the 20 first century, something went hay wire. What went haywire? Yes, this is a really interesting period because after 19 64, philibuster sort of became divorced from its white supremisis segregationist, a taint. This was unexpected. After the breaking of the 19 64 pilibuster and silver rights bill, everybody therewas a wide expectation that this, this tool is going to go, you know, to the dust bin of history.
