Plutarch's Lives - A Roman Play

Marcus brutus is a senator, and in the play at least, he's sort of caesar's political protege. He killed his friend, he says, in order to save rom, cause he loved his friend, but he loved rome even more. In there's a big emphasis on exempla, or examples, stories they would tell of what happened way back in their history. And so brutus has this weight of his family honor that he has to live up to,. i think that plays a large part in his decision making.
