How Hard Was It to Get the Right Lighting on His Skin?

Dwayne Johnson has a darker skin. It's in an under-cloaked hood in a darkened cave. How hard was it to find that artistically, the sort of the right lighting? I think it really came down to using the lighting that we have for reference on set and just really nail in his specular component.
