The Pros and Cons of Getting a Scholarship

When he won a Cambridge scholarship three years ago, the boy thought life was never going to be quite the same again. He had no idea what he wanted to do - just as once he thought to become a vicar for no better reason that he looked like one. Now it occurred to him I might become a don on the same principle. But to do thatI had to perform much better in finals than I or my tutors expected me to do. Whatever had seemed unusual or promising about me when I'd been given a scholarship at long since worn off. It was then that I remembered how I'd got the scholarship three years before.
