The Heart of Discipleship Is Reaching Outwards

Mormon's focus on other centred ness and outward orientation invites the disciple to salvation less as a goal that can be sought out for its own sake. I really the heart of discipleship is reaching outward to other people, into helping them get to where they need to be. In so doing, in the process, we are also helping ourselves. Incorporate the lord into your progress, into your efforts. Sometimes we can just assume that we know what is best for us, when in reality, we don't.
