The Effect of Anterior Stabilized Bearings on Knee Stability in PCL Deficient Knees

An anterior stabilized neprosthesis is composed of highly-conformed polyethylene components with a large anterior lip which prevents anterior translation of the femur on the tibia. Articular surfaces that are more congruous decrease the contact stresses at the surface by dispersing the joint reactive forces across a greater area. Another solution is to avoid machining of the articular surface. This is performed by molding directly from polyethylene powder to the desired product. It results in less fatigue crack formation and propagation compared to Rambar extrusion.
