Gamestop - A Great Moment in Stock Trading
A number of hedge funds decided that they would short the game stop stock, which effectively means they would bet against it. And so a bunch of people un read it, thought they would get together to drive up the share price and in doing so, potentially bankrupt these kind of vultury head funders. But ultimately no robin hood, which is the platform on which they were trading, a froze all trading to prevent this from happening. I think it just reflects the sense in which the stock market isn't this kind of democratic ideal. It's really about people speculating in a casino and making some quick money off of it.
