The Nightly Class of the 13th Century
The novel begins on the continent getting involved in the tournament circuit that is kind of really flourishing in the 13th century in Europe. There was this great circuit of tournaments by the mid-13th century throughout Europe and knights would go off and they'd go from one tournament to the next, traveling around a bit like a rock band on tour or something. And once I started looking into this, I realized how important it was and what an extraordinary vivid world these tournaments created because they were a kind of moving circus.
