The Importance of a High Mix, Low Volume Facility in a Mass Manufacturing Setting
For a high mix, low volume facility, you're going to have machines that are dynamically reconfigurable. For a kind of mass manufacturing line, or it would take a lot of time and money and material to retool them. A communist system probably wouldn't need as much production just in the initial outbreak because like you could run an eight quadrillion smartphone? Probably not. You just don't need that many of them. And then there's this whole thing about how capitalism is routed into these kinds of facilities so they can be used by people who aren't even capitalists themselves. It makes sense to dismantle a lot of massmanufacturing lines under such circumstances.
