Cratus and Pompey - I Don't Think They Wanted to Be a Dittator
I don't think Caesar wanted to be a dictator originally. It was only quite late in Caesar's career that he realized that that was the only option that was open to him. I mean, Cratus had worked and has started under Sulla, who had made himself the first dictator of Rome. He didn't do very well when he was there. So I think he would quite like to be known as the first man.
