Black Women's Struggle for Political Rights
For black women, these are companion struggles. They rea can't be torn apart from one another and it makes their quest for political rights unique. For example, during the decades leading up to the ratification of the nineteenth amendment to the constitution, a long campaign, black women are simultaneously working to win a promise of women's voting rights in the constitution. And they are also working as deliberately to secure anti lynching legislation that would suppress the violence and intimidation that keeps black men from the poles.
