This Is Why

Introduction

Sergey Skripal and his daughter, Yulia, collapsed in the heart of Salisbury. They pretty quickly established that they had been poisoned. A policeman who investigated their home also felt seriously ill. The poison was novachog, a nerve agent invented by Soviets during Cold War. Three months later Don Sturgis and Charlie Roly were rushed into hospital. On both occasions Wilkesha Council's Director of Public Health played a leading role in the response to the chemical attack which we later discovered was carried out by Russian spies. More used to dealing with measles outbreaks or contaminated water, she led her team through months of long days and nights and through her actions saved many lives.
