Meniscal Injury - What Is the Best Treatment?
The differential diagnosis for a meniscal injury includes an MCL sprain, pleicosindrome, and osteochondral lesions. Non-operative management includes rest, NSAIDs and rehabilitation which is indicated as the first line of treatment for degenerative tears. Operative options include partial menisectomy, meniscal repair, meniscal transplantation, and total menisectomy. The highest success after meniscal repair is when this is done with concomitant ACL reconstruction as 90% are successful.
