What was it about them that made them so useful to the tudors, but also so keen to usurp them? That's really the question that prompted me to research the dudleys in the first place. And i'm not sure that i came to a sing answer to that very big and complicated question. Certainly they were ambitious. A i say at one point in the book that ambition is in the dudley blood.
