How Much More Rain Can an Area Like Auckland Really Take?
This summer is likely to go into the record books as being a record wet summer for many locations. The South Island flip side of that coin has actually experienced record levels of dryness. To give you an idea about how dry it is, Queenstown would usually get around 160 millimeters of rain during the summer months. But so far this season they've only seen around a third of that. There's been quite a bit of ground instability with slips happening right across the North Island. And any additional rainfall that we get in those super soaked regions will just further exacerbate any slips or land that was close to moving last time.
