Folklore Rising

Ben Edge has travelled across Britain documenting weird and wonderful folk customs, from Stonehenge solstices and Padstow ‘Obby ‘Oss to wassailing, May Day rites, fire festivals and Mumming Plays.

This first trade book of his art shares over 200 artworks alongside real-life stories, anecdotes and legends.

Edge reflects on how engaging with folklore aided his recovery from depression and introduces 'folklore activism' as a way for people to reconnect with community, nature and the past amid a modern folk renaissance.
