Unauthorized Bread

Unauthorized Bread is a novella by Cory Doctorow that explores themes of immigration, economic and technological stratification, and the struggle to survive and prosper against systemic barriers.

The story follows Salima, a refugee living in a subsidized, technologically advanced apartment building in Boston, where appliances and elevators discriminate economically against low-income tenants.

Salima leads a jailbreak movement to liberate these appliances, facing the risk of losing everything and deportation.
