Our Rhythms, Our Voices
On and Off the Stage: Javier Jara, Our Rhythms, Our Voices
Book • 2024
Our Rhythms, Our Voices is a multimedia endeavor that combats stereotypes by interviewing 12 Latin American immigrants in Austin, transforming their stories into lyric poetry by Yahir Durán and music by Javier Jara with the Austin Unconducted Orchestra.
It highlights diverse experiences, from an Argentine chef to a Guatemalan advocate, using rhythms from their homelands to showcase cultural richness and contributions.
The project includes live performances, photography by Alejandro Moreno-Alanis, and an upcoming studio album.
