Tsen Lider

Ten Poems. Dešimt eilėraščių
Book •
Tsen Lider (Ten Poems) is the manuscript collection Avrom Sutzkever prepared in the Vilna Ghetto circa 1942–1943; the newly published facsimile reproduces high-resolution images of the original notebook alongside English and Lithuanian translations and scholarly essays.

The volume preserves the poet's original spellings, punctuation, and variants, offering direct access to poems composed under imminent threat.

The book situates the poems within the material history of the ghetto, Sutzkever's involvement with the paper brigade, and the manuscript's discovery in 2017 at the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania.

Editors and contributors include Mindaugas Kvietkauskas, David Fishman, Lara Lempertienė, and collaborators at YIVO and the Lithuanian National Library.

As both a literary artifact and testament, the edition illuminates Sutzkever's dialogical, defiant poetic voice written in extremis.
