When a Boeing 777 lands at JFK Airport with all aboard dead except four survivors, CDC epidemiologist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather investigates what turns out to be a vampiric plague unleashed by an ancient entity called the Master hidden in a coffin.

Joined by Holocaust survivor Abraham Setrakian, who recognizes the supernatural threat from his past, Eph and a small group of allies battle the spreading infection amid chaos in New York City.

The story explores themes of survival, family peril, and an epic struggle against vampiric hordes as the protagonists confront human conspirators and the undead.
