Revealed around 1858 while walking along the banks of the Tigris River in Baghdad, The Hidden Words consists of 71 Arabic and 82 Persian passages that guide the soul toward God through themes of purity, detachment, love, and humility.

Originally called the 'Hidden Book of Fátimih,' it is described by its Author as descending from the Realm of Glory, with 'Abdu'l-Bahá calling it a Treasury of Divine Mysteries and advising daily reading for spiritual transformation.
