Haggadah Shel Erev Rav
The Mixed Multitude Haggadah
Book •
Haggadah Shel Erev Rav, edited by Rabbi Sarah Berman, reimagines the Passover Haggadah around the biblical motif of the ‘‘mixed multitude’’ to celebrate diverse Jewish voices.
Combining traditional liturgy with four alternative magid pathways (centered on Moses, God, Miriam/women, and liberation/social justice), it invites choosable storytelling and reflection.
The volume features original artwork by Indian Jewish artist Siona Benjamin, updated Reform translations, introductions to each section, and prompts for personalizing seders.
Created to honor Rabbi Angela W. Buchdahl’s twentieth anniversary at Central Synagogue, the book balances script and commentary to be both a usable ritual text and a living document for families and communities.
It is designed to be flexible—standalone yet open to additions like readings, photographs, and records of seder participants.
