Thoroughly Modern Millie follows Millie Dillmount, a young woman from Kansas who comes to Manhattan in the Roaring Twenties to marry for money and embrace the flapper lifestyle.

She checks into a hotel run by the sinister Mrs. Meers, who leads a ring kidnapping orphan girls for trafficking to the Orient.

As Millie pursues a job and romance with Jimmy, she uncovers the plot, leading to romance, comedy, and heroism with friends like Dorothy, Graydon, and Muzzy.
