Maame

Maame follows 25-year-old Maddie Wright, the primary caregiver for her father with advanced Parkinson's, while dealing with an overbearing mother often in Ghana and workplace challenges as the only Black employee in publishing.

When her mother returns, Maddie moves out to experience firsts like flat-sharing, dating, and drinks, but tragedy forces her to confront family secrets, grief, and self-discovery.

The novel explores themes of familial duty, racism, friendship, love, and the 'first daughter syndrome' in Ghanaian households with humor and poignancy.
