Elantris

Elantris is Brandon Sanderson's debut novel, set in the world of Arelon and Teod.

The story follows Prince Raoden, who is transformed into an Elantrian by the mysterious curse known as the Shaod.

Elantrians, once godlike beings with magical abilities, are now cursed to live in a state of perpetual pain and decay within the city of Elantris.

Raoden, along with Princess Sarene of Teod, who arrives in Arelon for a marriage of state, works to uncover the secrets of Elantris and restore its magic.

The novel also involves Gyorn Hrathen, a high-ranking priest of the Derethi religion, who seeks to convert Arelon to his faith.

The story explores themes of redemption, power, and the struggle against oppressive forces, culminating in a dramatic resolution that restores the city's magic and saves the kingdoms from destruction.
