Novum Testamentum Omne

often called “The Majority Text”
Book •
Desiderius Erasmus compiled and published one of the first printed editions of the Greek New Testament in the early 16th century, commonly referenced as Novum Testamentum Omne.

His edition was based on the manuscripts available to him at the time—largely those of the Byzantine/majority textual tradition—and greatly influenced subsequent translations and editions, including early English translations.

Erasmus also produced a new Latin translation alongside the Greek text, and his work became foundational for scholars and translators during the Reformation.

Though later discoveries of older manuscripts prompted revisions, Erasmus's edition remains historically significant for textual criticism and the history of the New Testament text.

It played a central role in shaping the majority text tradition used in Europe for many centuries.
